When negative things happen we are really good at beating ourselves up. It’s normal in a society that has progress reports, performance reviews and report cards. Yes! You need to know how you did and take stock of the results from your actions. Not so you can punish yourself and feel bad: the opposite in fact. So you can celebrate the good parts, reproduce them and learn from the rest. Then you can continue to up your game. But do you celebrate the positive? Of course people share about landing that dream job, they announce when their kids do well and share about their new purchase of a home, a car or a trip. I wonder... are all the things we consider small getting forgotten? How many of these have you done? o Attended an event you were nervous to show up at o Got yourself a Facebook Business Page o Had a regular date night o Sent your first Tweet o Had more patience with your kids, pet or partner o Said no to something that’s been draining your energy or time o Got some vegetables or flowers from your garden o Read before you go to bed o Remembered to send cards for friends’ birthdays o Stretched, exercised or meditated in the morning o Landed a new client or fired one that has been a pain o Learnt something new Did you celebrate it? Did you tell someone you did it? Did you even feel that it was worth being talked about? Probably not because we suck at celebrating! That includes you and me! I realize that I don’t know your actions, but I’ve yet to meet someone who celebrates enough or gets the full benefit out of celebrating.
Over the course of the next few weeks I’m going to share with you the TOP THREE REASONS to celebrate your achievements and accomplishments. So start writing down all of your accomplishments at the end of every day. Start with today and let's do this together. xo Diane
